A hard-working duo, we have a combined 20-years of shipwright experience in the Caribbean island of St Maarten. We have just recently moved our business to Vava'u, Tonga and are enjoying the South Pacific immensely.

Originally from Natal, South Africa, Alan sailed from Capetown with family and settled in the Caribbean in 2004. After spending the first few years skippering charter boats, he decided to go land based and focus on his shipwright work in St Maarten. When he's not working you can find him on a surf break. He likes his coffee black and his rum dark.
Hailing from Cambridge, England, Joe sailed from the UK and landed in the Caribbean over 7 years ago. He worked alongside Al for many years in St Maarten before they decided to decamp to the other side of the world. He now lives aboard his yacht Shackles, which he rebuilt for the Pacific voyage. He's an avid surfer and enjoys pretty much any activity in or on the water. He takes his coffee and rum much like Al does.
